Telegram informing Laura Lindsey (spelled incorrectly on telegram) that her son, Private First Class Kenneth C. Lindsey (also spelled incorrectly on telegram) was killed in action on December 14, 1944 at the Puerto Princessa Prison Camp in the Phillipines. It was sent by United States Marine Corps Commandant A.A. Vandercraft. The telegram was sent on the 30th; no month is given, but a letter from Laura to her son written in late August 1945 (2019.019.0002b) would suggest that this telegram was sent sometime in late 1945 or 1946. Kenneth C. Lindsey was in the United States Marine Corps, a department of the U.S. Navy, from 1939 until he was killed in action in 1944. |
